Cooling Golfers and Volunteers for Charity

Cooling Golfers and Volunteers for Charity

otas-logoThis year Old Town Artisan Studio “Carts for Art” fundraising event will feature a Koolfog Misting Fan to help golfers and volunteers beat the heat.

This fun charity golf event will be enhanced by having a mister system available throughout the day. Over 75 golfers will participate under the hot desert temperatures expected and according to Rob Blackburn, General Manager of Mountain View Country Club, where the event will take place, “Having misting at Registration and Scoring provides a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for golfers and volunteers alike.”

Old Town Artisan Studio, OTAS, for short, is a non-profit studio and offers professional instruction in clay and glass fusion. Clay techniques include sculpting, pottery wheel, hand building, life casting, glazing, and kiln firing. According to Victory Grund, Founder of OTAS, “our studio specializes in the mediums of clay and glass because these art-forms are healing and a means of expression for mankind. In every culture of the world, art carries messages to all who share it.” While the price of each class varies, guests can also sign up for special sessions in ceramic painting, kids camps or have their birthday parties and social events at the studio.

Open to the public, each paid class or session helps to offset the cost of free classes for children and adults with special needs. The studio creates partnerships with other charitable groups in the community by offering free classes for organizations such as Coachella Valley Boys and Girls Clubs, Salvation Army, the Braille Institute to name a few.

Koolfog is donating the misting fan to sponsor this great organization as well as to provide a service to make sure golfers and volunteers have some relief. Of course, the evaporative cooling technology will make for a unique visual effect for guests at the start of the day.

You can help support OTAS and its programs via donation or at one of their two annual fundraisers: The annual “Hearts for Art” gala each January and their spring “Carts for Art” a golf charity event.

Funds raised will go towards underwriting studio classes for those with special needs. Future fundraising goals include the purchase of a vehicle so that OTAS can go mobile. “At a time when the arts are being pulled from schools, OTAS can fill a void”, exclaims Victory. “Some people dream of getting a Ferrari but I dream about a bread truck. Instead of loaves, we would fill the truck with kilns and glazes to take classes to hundreds of students” Victory beams excitedly.

This year’s golf event will be held at Mountain View Country Club in La Quinta on Monday, April 15th. Look for the Koolfog portable misting fans if your’re hot!!Mountain-View-Country-club-misting-system
