As the valley readies itself for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio this month, one of the most important factors is preparing for the desert heat.  Don’t be fooled by the valley’s famed “dry heat”…the past few years the hot desert temperatures have taken its toll on music lovers, campers, first aid responders, and vendors alike. So it is fortunate that Koolfog’s heat destroying misting systems and misting fans are manufactured locally and available to clients who have a presence at Coachella.

While Koolfog has long been known throughout the Coachella Valley for providing outdoor misting systems, some are surprised to learn that Koolfog also rents and sells portable mist fans. Portable mist fans use the same evaporative cooling technology found in Koolfog outdoor cooling systems.  But their size and flexibility allow clients to place the fans anywhere there is access to water and power.

“That portable mist fan saved our lives last year”, exclaims Lisa DelGado, owner of Las Casuelas Quinta restaurant on Highway 111.  Lisa’s team is one of the food providers that has a catering outpost at the Polo Grounds during the Coachella concerts.

Las Casuelas Quinta has been a long time customer of Koolfog with a misting system installed on their restaurant patio located on the corner Highway 111 and Washington.  When temperatures heat up most folks move inside.  “Having a misting system on our patio has completely expanded our season” says Lisa, allowing her to add more seats on the patio and serve more happy customers.

Koolfog understands our customers needs and our team is always happy to come up with a cooling solution even if it goes beyond the norm.  In the case of Las Casuelas’ remote catering service needs, they knew from experience the capability of Koolfog outdoor cooling effects.  Unfortunately, the remote location of their vendor booth at the concert venue did not give the team direct access to water.  Koolfog came up with a temporary pump unit to provide continuous water from a tank that Las Casuelas could put alongside their portable fan in their equipment truck.  A simple solution, but for Las Casuelas’ hard working team, a necessity.

At Coachella many unique Koolfog misting solutions have been utilized throughout the years including 6 fan misting fan trailers, VIP reception tents with integrated misting and even a grid of misting palms strategically placed within exclusive venues. Celebrities, fans, and vendors alike have all enjoyed the comfort of Koolfog misting zones.

“I don’t know how people can work in that heat without a misting fan.  The combination of climbing outdoor temps, rising cooking temps, and the need for fast paced service just make for an unbearable environment”, Lisa explains.
