Park Misting Systems Coachella Valley

Recently a good friend asked our Koolfog Customer Service Team what Coachella Valley public parks have park misting systems to keep kids and critters cool.  Our team not only admires great work found amongst our misting industry community, we provide new misting system installation, repair and service to existing misters, take care of fogscapes across our local desert cities. So we thought we’d share a few of our favorite finds.

Freedom Park, Palm Desert

Freedom Park offers 26 acres of outdoor fun.  Designed with a ode to American History, this expansive park welcomes its visitors with a ton of amenities to indulge in sports activities, picnicking, and play.  Like baseball? Softball? Soccer? or football? The fields await. Enjoy a game on the court? Try basketball, pickleball or volleyball.  Take a walk on the path that winds around the park or take advantage of some of the areas skate features and don’t forget to pack a basket of snacks to share under the shaded picnic shelters. There truly is something for everyone…including our furry family friends.   Freedom Park has a very popular dog park boasting a green grassy area with trees to give your dog an amazing outdoor experience.  It’s been reported that there are even “baggies, scoops, balls, water bowls, and rinsing station” to pamper your pets. Of course, we are partial to the playground area at Freedom Park.  There are kids jungle gyms, climbers, slides, swings and so much more to explore! In the middle of the park there is a very cool immersive play structure in the form of a ship.  Children can use their imagination to champion the large vessel on a sea of calm waves with a lovely plume of mist gently moving through the air.   The fog fountain is comprised of a set of misting pads that are set into the ground at the front of the ship to create a sense of movement while providing a real visual and tactile experience.

Fountain of Life, Cathedral City

As you leave Palm Springs via Highway 111, you can’t help but know you’ve arrived at the heart of Cathedral City when you spot the spectacular “Fountain of Life”.  While not, technically, a park misting system, this beautiful piece of public art definitely gives off a mist sensation and has become a wonderful gathering place to cool off and chill. Inspired by the nature and history of the desert the large stone and mosaic fountain incorporates symbols of the areas birth and growth while surrounded by sculptures of creatures found in the Coachella Valley such as turtles, fish, wildflowers, and big horn sheep.  The artwork is colorful and tells a vibrant story of Cathedral City’s roots.  Families can been seen hanging out under the waterfalls, climbing amidst the multi-level tiers or playing in the water sprays that form lovely mist clouds around the soft surface.  According to www.cathedralcity.gov, the The “Fountain of Life” ‘s “underground tank contains two 5.5 h.p. pumps with a capacity of 450 g.p.m. The pumps process the water through a manifold for distribution among nozzles for 32 separate fountain features. Each nozzle is adjusted for quantity and pressure, which affect the height of the sprays.”  The fountain has become the centerpiece for area civic activities, shopping, and dining as well as a local  fan favorite for beating the heat.

Civic Center Park, Palm Desert

Perhaps one of the most beloved parks in the Coachella Valley, Civic Center Park, Palm Desert is a picturesque destination to celebrate nature as well as exercise the body and soul.  The 70 acre park is one of the largest in the area with duck filled ponds, artfully arranged walking paths, public art pieces for reflection and contemplation, and a rose garden to breathe in the fragrance of floral beauty.  Large palm trees dot the landscape and surround a large grassy knoll with a huge amphitheatre that hosts concerts and special events.  In addition to the many sports fields and courts, the park is home to Palm Desert Parks and Recreation facilities Community Center, Aquatic Center, and YMCA.  The adjacent Skate Park and Dog Park are situated across from the College of the Desert and accessible to the public.  The Dog Park features a grass area with two seating ramadas for dog owners to relax and take shade.   The ramadas have park misting systems and make for a great respite from the heat.  Misting systems can also be found on the Picnic Pavilions located near the children’s playgrounds.   We think Civic Center Park in Palm Desert is a special place to put on your “must visit” list.

Restaurant Misters & Spritzers at Kitchen 86

Recently, our Koolfog Taste Team found itself checking out the local scene on El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert. As we all know, the desert heat can cause malaise and it’s been brutal this season.  To our delight, we saw our restaurant misters blazing full of fresh air, cooling patio guests at Kitchen 86 + Bar.  Taking this visual note as a sign, we stepped in for a bite…and stayed for a cocktail.

Even with typical decreased tourism throughout the Coachella Valley in July, there was a wait for a table (another good sign) so we decided to sit at + Bar to see what, all, the buzz was about.

As we tried to decide what to order from their amazing “Modern Eclectic Small Plate” menu, we were intrigued with the colorful cocktails being served in front of us.  We began with one of our favorites, Prosecco with a serving of the Kitchen 86 Bread with wood fired garlic, extra virgin olive oil, herbs and pecorino.

This mixologist we encountered not only poured superb drinks… he introduced our team to what seems to be the “it” summertime spirit: The Aperol Spritz.

Ultra-refreshing and light, this Italian inspired gift truly is the perfect summer beverage.   Served with equal parts Aperol, Prosecco and a splash of San Pelligrino sparkling water, it blissly bubbles as you sip in its sunshine.  The classic orange citrus garnish hints to the mandarin orange flavor of the Aperol and adds a delicious desert hue to the glass that some have liked to that of a “sunset over the Italian Riviera”. Grazie!

Speaking of good things Italian, as we enjoyed our cocktails, we found the Kitchen 86 restaurant menu to have many Italian influenced dishes infused with local and organic ingredients.  Feeling well-nourished with our starter and aperitif in hand, we moved to the outdoor patio to dine under the misters.  Sitting under the cool mist, we comfortably ordered our main courses.  We shared an, especially, tasty lasagna as well as a mouth-watering chicken pesto sandwich.

The evaporative nature of the misting system gave us a true break from the heat by decreasing the terrace’s ambient temperature, giving us a wonderful opportunity to eat while gazing upon one of the most beautiful streets in the world.  El Pawseo Drive sits within the heart of Palm Desert and features a world class hub for shopping, dining, and culture.  Art galleries as well as public art pieces dot the rue flush with posh designer boutiques, Euro-styled salons, a high-end cannabis dispensary, and a bevy of swanky gourmet experiences to entice the most distinguished epicureans.  The al fresco dining options are plenty and you can be sure to identify them easily by, of course, looking out for those misters!  Prego!

You can check out the ever-changing menu at www.kitchen-86.com . However, we suggest you don’t overlook the + Bar to bring a smile to your lips! Kitchen 86 + Bar is located at 73-130 El Paseo, Suite I, Palm Desert, California.

Behind the Scenes at Koolfog: Meet Adriana!

Koolfog has been delivering cool mist systems and developing interesting fogscape designs for over 30 years in the Coachella Valley.   We are proud of our growth and the innovative misting and fog atmospheric applications that have evolved over the years.  We are also aware of the impact our amazing employees have had on serving our Greater Palm Springs community and our desert customers.  We wouldn’t be where we are today without the Koolfog team that work hard behind the scenes and we want to give you a glimpse of these contributors that make our team shine!

Meet Adriana:

Adriana has been with Koolfog for over 13 years and has witnessed how our outdoor cooling systems and our fog systems have provided comfort and great visual effects for an international clientele.   As our human resources liaison, Adriana has been instrumental in growing our team and building our corporate culture.  She handles this responsibility with ease while, also, taking charge of Koolfog’s invoices as well as A/R and A/P accounting needs.  She administers contracts, works with our insurance requirements, and keeps our front office on track.  Adriana loves a challenge and thrives in keeping on top of her work during our fast-paced busy season.

Adriana is a desert native, born and raised in Mecca, California.  She enjoys our Coachella Valley hiking trails, the mountain scenery, and of course, our colorful desert sunsets. While she loves the weather most of the year, she appreciates the value of Koolfog’s outdoor misting and fog systems as the temperatures heat up.

Adriana is a mother of two children who she says, “inspire her to be a role model”.    She likes to take her children to the Palm Springs Art Museum followed by a trip to Crazy Mel’s restaurant.  You’ll find Adriana and her family on the outside dining area cooling off under the misters while feasting on the eateries’ delicious burgers.

The La Quinta Cliffhouse is another one of Adriana’s favorite haunts.   She loves this destination location offering al fresco dining set among the rocks where you can take in a sunset dinner while relaxing comfortably under the venue’s patio mist systems. Adriana loves the diverse menu options and the amazing seafood appetizer selections.

Adriana loves seafood, especially, shrimp ceviche. A natural cook, she uses her senses to take over the kitchen.  Typically, she usually prepares her dishes using visual and tasting cues. In sharing her favorite shrimp ceviche recipe (below), she encourages the gourmet chef within to put your own spin on it.

Adriana’s “Chill Mist” Shrimp Ceviche

2lbs – raw shrimp (peeled, deveined & chopped)

2 to 3 tomatoes (finely diced)

1 white onion (finely diced)

½ cup of cilantro (finely chopped)

¼ orange juice

Salt to taste

Black pepper (ground) to taste

2 – finely diced serrano chiles (seeded)

A lot of lemon juice (fresh lemons) enough to cover entire ingredients

*Avocado wedges for garnish.

Mixed all the above ingredients using the lemon juice to thoroughly “mist” the contents of the bowl. “Chill” in the fridge overnight. (5 – 8 hours)

Serve on a tostada and garnish with avocado wedges!

HGTV’s Desert Flippers

HGTV’s Desert Flippers

In a recent episode of HGTV’s Desert Flippers, “Go Bold or Go Home”, Koolfog plays a key role in the house’s transformation. The show follows couple Lindsey & Eric Bennett who buy and refurbish homes in the Palm Springs Desert area. “Go Bold or Go Home” features a mid-century modern home in a desirable neighborhood that needs some tweaks to live up to its full potential. As part of the reno the Bennett’s focus on the backyard of the home, as Eric notes that “people come to Palm Springs for indoor/outdoor lifestyle” so they work to increase the usable outdoor square footage and create an appealing outdoor space. However, as the couple knows, heat can be a definite problem for potential buyers if an outdoor space is not cooled properly. Koolfog to the rescue!

We don’t want to spoil the show but can say that Lindsey raved about the “huge outdoor dining area” that was made possible by the addition of the misters to “cool the outdoor living space.” Clearly, adding a misting system helped the couple reach their goal of a successful flip!

Johannes Patio Misters Tune Up

Johannes Restaurant in Palm Springs serves European Cuisine from Austrian born Chef/Owner Johannes Bacher. Their patio utilizes a misting system to ensure comfort at all times of the year. The system was tuned up at the beginning of summer ’17 and working perfectly! Our patio misting systems are great for restaurants because they don’t leave any wet residue behind, which means your tables and guests’ food will stay dry.

Our patio misting systems are designed to enhance your restaurant patio dining areas with a cooler atmosphere during the hotter months of the year, to extend your rushes, to increase your capacity and to enhance your ambiance. Misting can provide even the most distracted person relief and relaxation. Food is meant to be, as it always has, a place for all of us to come and be together.

Empowering your restaurant to maintain a consistent revenue stream throughout the year can be a challenge. The very nature of a restaurant circles around “rush” hours and “dead” times. Utilizing patio misting systems can lengthen or even maintain existing peak periods for optimal table turn-over rates while giving your guests the subtle statement that you have carefully considered every detail of comfort. Smoking areas become welcoming and the passing crowds are drawn to your call of comfort.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to make your restaurant a hot spot all year round. Contact us to get started with a patio misting system installation.

Valley View Under Patio Misting System

What a view! Made possible at all times of the year with a Koolfog patio misting system, sitting outdoors, relaxing and just taking it all in becomes possible! The home is the basis of family connections, memorable bar-b-ques and the best birthday parties. Extend the square footage of your house, the time you can spend outdoors and the memories you make with a thoughtfully engineered and meticulously manufactured Koolfog high-pressure misting system.

Koolfog high-pressure misting pumps and misting nozzles deliver temperatures up to 35 degrees cooler. Using pressures of 1000 PSI to produce atomized water particles, Koolfog leverages the energy in the air, in the form of heat, to process the water particles effectively removing the heat from the air. In short, we drop temperatures significantly.

It’s about the times we share together; when there is only family and friends, and nothing really matters except that you are all together. These are the beginnings of the best memories, and they all start in your backyard. Koolfog’s high-pressure misting systems keep temperatures moderate so the most treasured experiences can extend well into the hottest times of the year.
