Porta Via Patio Misters Look Cool on El Paseo

Porta Via brings savoir fare to Palm Desert with an upscale bistro and bar that makes a statement on appetites as it serves up an appreciation for modern architecture. Located on the corner of The Shoppes on El Paseo, Porto Via caters to local needs for a uniquely sophisticated lunch and dinner spot. Porta Via means “by way of” or “take away” in Italian, and while its moniker gives the impression that guests will experience Italian-inspired dining, the Chef has curated a diverse mix of flavors from around the world (think Thai spices, parmigiana, jalapeño, and farm to table herbs). Menu items include new flavor combinations to tease and please discerning palettes, and for those seeking favorite comfort foods, there is no lack of fine meats and potatoes. Vegan-friendly as well as gluten-free options are peppered throughout the menu with generously proportioned dishes showcased in an array of sandwiches, pasta, seafood, steaks, chops, and more. Patrons can pair fine wines with selections or order off a beautifully crafted drink menu.

The gluten free “Zucchini Noodles with Shrimp”:
Spectacular in presentation, portion, and a palette pleaser, served with broccolini, cherry tomato & chili flakes roasted garlic olive oil.

Design That Gives Off Desert Vibes

With the same attention to healthy and high-quality cuisine, Porta Via has been meticulously designed from the inside out. The luxe interior space is absolutely exquisite, featuring a fresh take on mid-century modern design influences. The gorgeous green color is carried throughout, from the extravagant double door entrée to the plush fabric that drapes the sumptuous, curved booths. Splashes of gold accent hardware artfully accessorize the neutral lighting, materials, and furniture to reflect a crisp, cool atmosphere. Porta Via’s bar is beautiful with an open face to the restaurant, making grabbing a drink, socializing, and feeling a part of a fun scene accessible. After imbibing during happy hour, it’s good to know that there are 3 private unisex restrooms with sliding barn doors and a communal wash basin outside of the restrooms. Very en-trende.

Dining Under the Misters

When it’s sizzling outside, you’ll find respite from the desert heat both inside and outside the restaurant. As you approach the building itself, a haze of fine mist wraps around the corner to cool off the path to the restaurant as well as create a visual effect that can be seen from both directions on El Paseo. Koolfog misters have been built into the structure without detracting from the clean lines that are distinctive to mid-century modern design. The misters have been installed flush with the outdoor structural white walls softening the accent block type trellis. With ample access to water and power, the Koolfog misting system pumps are discreetly set upon the roof to minimize noise and provide easy support for the various areas that are to be cooled. The distribution line and fittings from the pump to the mist line are all stainless steel providing extreme durability. A flow control valve for each unit also allows the mist output to be adjusted depending on needs.

The patio misters help enhance the ambiance with a desert boho chic vibe. The atrium-like setting invites guests onto the outside patio to gather, enjoy appetizers and a cocktail or relax under the misters. This is a polished area that sets a stylish tone. Refresh with a crisp cocktail and a sampling of the Chilled Seafood menu which ranges from a Farmer’s Market Shrimp Cocktail to Caviar Service depending upon your mood, the occasion, and your budget.

Our taste team highly recommends the Fried Calamari appetizer, grilled to perfection and not too greasy! Pair with Porta Via’s Summer in a Glass. Made with organic vodka, watermelon, lemonade, and mint, it’s a stunning cocktail for chilling!
