Of patio misting systems, magnificent brunches, munchies, and more.

There’s something special about celebrating brunch (that window that celebrates breakfast and lunch and everything in between) sitting under a fabulous patio misting systems to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of an outdoor environment.

So, when considering where to brunch in the desert, Wilma & Frieda rises to the top of the list. Not only is the food fantastic but the vibe is just cool all the way around. Cool people. Cool menu. Cool patio scene. The restaurant’s popularity has gained it nationwide attention having been featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. But you won’t second guess your choice to spend a relaxing meal when you see both vibrant venues filled with hungry patrons. Yes, there are two locations. After the success of their Palm Desert destination, they expanded to establish a presence in downtown Palm Springs and serve more starving fans.

The overall Wilma & Frieda vibe is fresh with a farmhouse café feel. The ambiance is light and airy but welcoming at the same time with guests invited to “EAT” in Palm Desert or hit up the “GARAGE”, a large bar area at the Palm Springs location.

Upon arrival at both locations, you’ll note their patios, especially if it is warm outside. A light stream of mist will be flowing to cool guests sporting cool sunglasses while savoring their favorite dishes. The Koolfog patio misting systems use evaporative cooling technology to chill the ambient air to decrease the outdoor temperatures without getting diners wet. This is a huge draw both visually because it’s a cool effect to look at but it allows for an al fresco experience with great views offering the perfect setting for people watching.

Named after the owners’ two grandmothers, the restaurants serve, as they say, “comfort food with a twist”. In addition to homemade pastries, brunch fare includes flavorful breakfast items, crave-able lunch foods and seasonal bits for everything in between.

The Palm Desert and Palm Springs Menus have some of the same house specials while varying their selections at different locations. Check out the eggs-cellent EENY, MEANY, MINEY, & MO plates that build upon each layer as it goes:

EENY
Two eggs any style, with choice of hash browns, house potatoes, fruit, or mixed greens choice of toast, house-made biscuit or English muffin.

MEANY
It’s an “Eeny” with your choice of bacon or sausage.

MINEY
It’s the Meany but you get the best of both worlds – bacon & sausage.

MO
3 eggs any style, with both sausage & bacon, and classic thick-cut French Toast. (Does not include a side of toast or potatoes)

The open space and ingredient-rich kitchen make brunch at Wilma & Frieda’s special. Dining under the patio misting system, in our opinion, of course, balances each bountiful bite with the beauty of finding culinary joy under clear desert skies.
